Meet Dr. Ann DePaolo Wietsma, CCC-A, FAAA
Dr. Ann DePaolo Wietsma earned her Au.D. from A.T. Still University-Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa, Arizona. She earned a master’s degree in education of the hearing impaired and audiology from Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. She is also a graduate of West Virginia University in Morgantown West Virginia with a B.S. degree in speech pathology and audiology.
Ann’s career began as a speech pathologist and resource teacher for hearing impaired students. She worked fifteen years as a consultant for a major U.S. hearing aid manufacturer. Prior to relocating to the Northern Neck, she owned an audiology private practice in Washington DC.
Ann is a licensed audiologist in Virginia and Maryland. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from the American Speech and Hearing Association. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (FAAA) and has earned board certification from the American Board of Audiology. She is a licensed Virginia hearing aid specialist. She is committed to ongoing education and has earned awards for continuing education credits. She is a professional member of the American Tinnitus Association, Academy of Doctors of Audiology and Speech and Hearing Association of Virginia.
When she purchased the Mathews Hearing Aid Center in 2001, her goal was raising the standard of patient care to include comprehensive audiology and hearing care to children and adults in the area. Her extensive background in hearing counseling and rehabilitative services creates the foundation and tools needed to provide practical solutions for patients. She has a special interest in helping patients with tinnitus learn to live successfully with their condition.
A Pennsylvania native, Ann relocated to the Northern Neck from Silver Spring, Maryland. She now resides in Kilmarnock. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, cooking and quality family time with family and especially her young adult granddaughters, Diane and Megan.
